West Ham always follow up a good season with a bad one
85/86, 95/96, 01/02, 05/06 and 15/16 were decent. Relegation battles followed. It's part of supporting West Ham. If you don't like it tough luck.

It's not that I don't think you should try to improve. Just don't understand why so many fans are surprised! This always happens. I looked back at he 60's league positions. 1964: 14th, 1965: 9th, 1966: 12th. They were the glory years! If you support your local team it's not for glory anyway.

In terms of our Premier League record last season was not good it was exceptional. We broke several performance records, equalled our best number of wins in a season and finished top of the top eight league. I am confident we will finish top half this season.

We're paying a lot more for a manager than in those days pal.

And for players.
This is the new WH with the new mantra. We won't settle for the dross that's been served up before neither will the owners.

Off the top of my head:

63-64 win FA cup
64-65 win European Cup Winners Cup

79-80 win FA cup
80-81 Div 2 champs and League cup finalist

97-98 finish 8th plus QF in both cups
98-99 finish 5th

Not always the case though. Finished 5th in 98/99, 9th following season (only two points less), which is hardly a disaster.

It's part of being West Ham, don't like it, tough.

That's smart logic. So if something is shit, you should never strive to change it.

Yup could sense this coming at end of last season, and after all we spent as well, same old west ham. Load gun, point at feet, shoot.
